Bhubaneswar: It is very unfortunate that the Japanese industrial giant Nippon Steel is withdrawing its mega project from Odisha and is moving to Andhra Pradesh, said the opposition Biju Janata Dal.
Under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik, many industries had expressed their interest in investment in Odisha. Even, the highest investments were made during Covid-19 pandemic. Now, all companies are preferring to exit Odisha. This suggests that no company trusts the BJP here in the state, said senior BJD leader Pratap Jena.
Naveen Patnaik himself went to Japan and discussed with the owners of Nippon Steel company and tried to set up the world’s largest steel plant in Kendrapara. But today it is going to Andhra Pradesh, which is unfortunate for Odisha, Jena said.
The mega project would have brought an investment of Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand crores and created employment opportunities in the state directly and indirectly. Revenue would have increased. Odisha would have become an industrially prosperous state. But unfortunately, today, due to the BJP government, a double engine or remote control government controlled by Delhi, the companies are withdrawing from Odisha.
ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel could have set up this company. A few days ago, when the BJP government came to power, the JSW Electric Vehicle Company, which the Naveen government would have given all the facilities and more than Rs 40,000 crore would have been invested, ran away to Maharashtra. Now no company has any faith in the BJP government in Odisha, the senior BJD leader said.
