Jajpur: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Rajat Kumar Routray, Ex- Nazir at Jajpur Tahasil, who was absconding since 2016 following involvement in misappropriation of government funds to the tune of Rs. 4.95 crore.
Routray has been arrested in 3 cases under the PC Act, which have been registered against him and other government officials of the Tahasil, including 3 Tahsildars, the Vigilance informed.
He had cut contact with relatives and was frequently changing his location and mobile numbers.
A Special Team of Odisha Vigilance found Routray hiding in a rented house at CDA, Cuttack where he was staying under a new identity as Ajit Mohapatra, along with his second wife.
He was forwarded to Court today.
Routray has already been dismissed from service by Odisha Government.
