Bhubaneswar: A former accountant at Jatani Municipality has been convicted in a bribery case and has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and pay fine of Rs.10,000.
“Sarat Kumar Dash, Ex. Accountant, Jatani Municipality who was chargesheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Bhubaneswar Vigilance Cell PS Case No.3/2015 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7PC Act, 1988 for demanding and accepting bribe Rs 35,000 from a Complainant for facilitating release of final bill towards construction of cc road with drain in Jatani Municipality, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months U/s 13(2) PC Act, 1988”.
The Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and fine of Rs.10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months U/s 7PC Act, 1988.
The accused Sarat Kumar Dash has been sent to jail today to serve the sentence, the Vigilance informed.
