New Delhi: Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud has taken oath as the 50th Chief Justice of India today. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Justice Chandrachud at Rashtrapati Bhawan. He is the 50th Chief Justice of India. His father YV Chandrachud was the longest-serving CJI.
He will be the Chief Justice of India for about two years till November 10, 2024. He succeeds Justice Uday Umesh Lalit. Justice Chandrachud was elevated to the Supreme Court on May 13, 2016. Earlier, he had served as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.
