Bengaluru: After days of speculations, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has announced his resignation from the post of Chief Minister. He will submit his resignation to the Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot after lunch. This brings to an end the speculation that was going on regarding leadership change in Karnataka for the last few months. Incidentally, the resignation comes a day when the government led by him completes exactly two years.
Speaking on the occasion of celebrations to mark the completion of two years of his government, Yediyurappa said,“I have decided to resign. I will meet the Governor after lunch”.
Yediyurappa is the face of Karnataka Bharatiya Janata party and has been the Chief Minister for record four times. Coming from the politically significant Lingayata community, the 78-year-old leader has played a crucial role in strengthening BJP’s presence in South India.
Yediyurappa is an eight-time MLA from Shikaripura constituency of Shimoga district. The state is going for polls in 2023 and the Bharatiya Janata party has already started its preparations.
