Bhubaneswar: Senior Biju Janata Dal leader Kartik Pandian on Thursday campaigned in Balasore and Bhadrak Lok Sabha constituencies to garner support for the BJD candidates in the ensuing elections.
The BJD star campaigner addressed huge public meetings in Simulia, Soro, Bhandaripokhari and Dhamnagar.
In the meetings, he said that 4.5 crore people of Odisha are the family members of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. As head of the family, the Chief Minister is working to reduce their financial burden. But the BJP government at the center continues to increase the burden on the people, Pandian said.
The senior BJD leader said that Naveen Patnaik will once again take oath as Chief Minister on June 9 with the blessings of Mahaprabhu and people of the state. After taking oath, the first order will be waiver of electricity bills for all. Everyone will get BSKY card on his second order. The third order will provide pension for Mission Shakti members after the age of 60 years. Nua-O scholarships for college students will also be increased. Boys will get Rs 12,000 instead of Rs 9,000 and girls will get Rs 14,000 instead of Rs 10,000. No state in the country has made such a scheme for the students, Kartik Pandian said.
Odisha is progressing and peoples’ dreams are being fulfilled. The Chief Minister believes in deeds, not in words. The Chief Minister wants to build a new Odisha through empowering mothers and youth, the senior BJD leader said.
Coming down heavily on the opposition, Kartik Pandian said that the BJP government at the centre had made a lot of promises – to reduce prices, to reduce prices of LPG, petrol, diesel etc. Did it come down? They had promised to provide employment. Did it happen? They will come only once in five years to ask for votes, Pandian said.
