Keonjhar: The Block Education Officer (BEO), Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district has been by Odisha Vigilance while accepting bribe of Rs 15,000 from an assistant teacher for release of arrear pay of teachers.
The BEO has been identified as Abhay Kumar Behera.
Behera had demanded Rs. 60,000 for release of arrear pay of a group of Asst. Teachers and this was the first instalment.
The entire bribe amount of Rs.15,000 has been recovered from the BEO, the Vigilance said.
Following trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Behera in Keonjhar and Jajpur districts from DA angle.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case No.25/2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered.
Investigation is in progress against the BEO, Ghatagaon, the Vigilance added.
