Bhubaneswar: A retired plant manager at OMFED, Jeypore Plant in Koraput district has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment of two years after being convicted in a vigilance case.
The former plant manager has been identified as Umesh Chandra Mahapatra.
Mahapatra, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case for his alleged criminal misconduct, thereby causing loss of about Rs 11 lakh to the goverment, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs 5,000.
In default of payment of fine, he will undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months more for commission of the offence U/s 13(2)r/w13(1)(d) of PC Act,1988, the Vigilance said.
Odisha Vigilance further stated that it will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Mahapatra following his conviction.
