Koraput: An Assistant Electrical Engineer of TPSODL, Boriguma in Koraput district was arrested by the vigilance sleuths for allegedly taking bribe from a person.
The engineer has been identified as Praveen Hota.
Vigilance sleuths held Hota while he was demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10000 from a complainant threatening him to discontinue his contractual engagement.
The bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused. In this connection a case has been registered and further investigation is continuing, the vigilance said.
Simultaneous searches were conducted on properties of Hota at four places in Ganjam and Koraput districts.
The Electrical Engineer was under the scanner of Vigilance following allegations of tampering of meters, exchange of transformers showing them as damaged, providing illegal connections to small and medium commercial consumers, etc.
During house search Rs 4,05,600 cash was recovered so far, it added.
