Low Pressure Area Forms Over Bay of Bengal, Many Districts of Odisha to Experience Heavy Rains

Bhubaneswar: A Low Pressure area has formed over northeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal today. The system is likely to move towards West Bengal and North Odisha and transform into a well marked low pressure in the next 48 hours bringing heavy rains in the coastal districts. Many districts of Odisha are likely to receive rains from today under its influence.

The weather system will bring heavy rains over Gangetic West Bengal between 29th September and 30th September. The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for one or two places in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak on Friday. Thunderstorm with lightning is also likely to occur at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh and Ganjam districts.

According to the IMD, light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/thunderstorm & lightning with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 28th September to 01st October; Odisha on 29th September to 04th October; Gangetic West Bengal on 29th & 30th and Jharkhand during 30th September to 04th October and Bihar during 02nd to 04th October. Isolated very heavy rainfall is very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 28th to 30th September; Odisha on 01st & 2nd October. Squally weather with wind speed reach 45-55 gusting to 65 likely over Andaman Islands during 28th September to 01st October, 2023.
