Phulbani: A Maoist cadre has surrendered before the police in Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Sunday.
After seeing lot of developmental activities being undertaken by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik-led Odisha Government, the Maoist cadre Rahul Musaki alias Pintu realized the futility of violent path of Naxalism and thus decided to join the mainstream.
Musaki, who hails from Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, was a member of Bansadhara-Ghumusar-Nagabali (BGN) division. He is suspected to be involved in many LWE related incidents.
He surrendered before Superintendent of Police, Kandhamal on Sunday, according to a statement issued by the Odisha Police.
The Chief Minister had given a call to active Naxals and militia for surrendering and becoming part of mainstream and be a part of the developmental initiatives.
This appeal of the CM coupled with the good surrender and rehabilitation policy of the State Government has also influenced him to give up the path of violence and to join the mainstream.
Establishment of new COBs in interior areas of Kandhamal District is obstructing/preventing movement and activities of Naxals, the statement said.
Increase of regular Anti Naxalite Operation in interior areas of Kandhamal district and subsequent continuous fear of Police action also contributed to his surrender, it added.
