Baliguda: In a major success to the security forces, a Maoist was killed during an exchange of fire between them and the security forces in the Kamerikia Jungle near Baliguda in Kandhamal district. The exchange of fire took place yesterday evening during a search operation by the police forces.
The Maoists suddenly opened fire on the Jawans and in retaliation, the forces also fired. A DVF Jawan was injured in the incident. According to reports, a top cadre Maoist was killed in the firing by security forces. It is also believed that a number of other Maoist also sustained injuries. The security forces are carrying out search operations in the forest. The injured jawan has been shifted to MKCG Medical College Hospital in Berhampur.
