Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has plans to open medical colleges in all district headquarters in the State, informed Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET) Dr Sachidananda Mohanty on Tuesday.
Rindo Majhi Government Medical College and Hospital, Bhawanipatna will start classes from this academic session. Two medical colleges will be set up in Jajpur and Kandhamal districts next year, he said.
Currently, Odisha has a total of 10 government medical colleges, including Berhampur, Cuttack and Burla. The State has also 2 post graduate and dental medical colleges. Cuttack, Burla and Berhampur Medical Colleges have 700 medical seats. 700 more seats are being added due to opening of 7 new medical colleges in the State, the DMET said.
