Bhubaneswar: A Section Officer at the office of Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation, Bhubaneswar has come under the scanner of Odisha Vigilance for allegedly taking bribe.
The Section Officer has been identified as Subhakanta Swain.
Swain has been apprehended by the Vigilance sleuths while taking bribe Rs.8,000 from a complainant for processing the application of his brother and issuance of the contractor license.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Swain from DA angle. Further, Rs.14990 has been recovered from office drawer of Swain and Rs.5500 from his personal search so far.
In this connection, Bhubaneshwar Vigilance PS case U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress, the Vigilance stated.
