Berhampur: In a curious incident, doctors at the MKCG Medical College Hospital in Berhampur have successfully removed a steel glass from the intestine of a patient in a rare surgery today. The steel glass was alleged forcibly inserted into the anus of a person by his friends when they were having a drinks party in Surat. The person hails from Buguda in Ganjam District.
On the advice of Prof Dr Charan Panda, a team of doctors of MKCG including Asst Prof Dr Sanjit Kumar Nayak, Dr Subrat Baral, Dr Pratibha and Dr Satyaswarup Patnaik and others undertook an operation for removing the glass. After two hours of complicated operation, the glass was removed from the said person. The person is completely cured and safe now.
According to the hospital sources, the person was working at a cotton mill in Surat. When he was having a drinks party with his friends, they forcibly inserted the steel glass into his anus under the influence of alcohol. After two days, he came back to his Balipadar village in Ganjam and out of shame, he did not divulge the events to anyone. But after getting severe pain in the stomach, he went to the Hospital on 19th August, where the doctors were astonished after primary check up. The X-ray report showed the glass moved into the internal stomach of the person.
The doctors tried to remove the glass through the anus but could not and decided to go for surgery to remove it. They started the operation at 8 pm on Saturday and it took two hours to remove the glass from the intestine.
