Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana Nabin Card under the aegis of 5T Initiatives. The beneficiaries of the card will be able to avail the facility from 1st May this year.
All the people living in villages, except Income tax payers and government officials are eligible to get the facility. While the distribution of the Nabin Card began today in Khordha and Sambalpur districts, the facility will be available from 1st May 2024. The initiative has been taken up under the 5T Initiatives with a view to provide free healthcare to all.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said that the four and half crore people of Odisha are my family members and I have always been with you in your happy and sad times. Your happiness is my happiness.
Stating that a healthy society is the basis of a prosperous nation and it has a deep relationship with good health, the Chief Minister said that I have always worked and will continue to work for the well-being of my family members.
It is worth mentioning here that more than 1 crore families of the state, consisting of 80 percent of the state’s population, are getting cashless medical benefits under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana. It gives medical treatment benefits of up to Rs 5 lakhs for beneficiary family members and Rs 10 lakhs for female beneficiaries. In this scheme, more than 1,30,000 beneficiaries are receiving treatment in 816 registered private hospitals per month. For this, the state government is spending more than Rs 270 crore from its own funds. With the BSKY Nabin Card, more families can be added in this scheme.
State Health and Family Welfare Minister Niranjan Pujari attended the program in Rengali Block of Sambalpur district. He said that the implementation of the BSKY Nabin Card under 5T Initiatives is a historic decision of the Chief Minister. Today, all the underprivileged beneficiaries of the rural areas are involved. 5T model is Chief Minister’s vision for the development of Odisha, he said. Today, the trust of the people of of the state on 5T Mantra is increasing. He said that the Chief Minister gives utmost importance to providing better healthcare to the people of the state.
5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian said that the aim of the Chief Minister is to provide health assurance to every person of the state and in the next phase, almost everyone in the urban areas will be included in the BSKY Nabin card. He thanked the Department of Health and Family Welfare and the Department of Information Technology for implementing the scheme in a record time.
It is worth mentioning here that during the 5T Chairman’s visit to the districts on grievance hearing, many deprived people of rural areas requested him to include them in the scheme. The Chief Minister, after coming to know about this, decided to launch the card for all people living in rural areas.
