Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal President Naveen Patnaik on Saturday paid his humble tributes to veteran BJD leader and former MLA V. Sugnana Kumari Deo at “Sankha Bhawan”, party office of Biju Janata Dal.
The mortal remains of Sugnana Deo were brought to Sankha Bhawan from Chennai by flight this evening.
The Chief Minister offered his last respects to the former MLA at the party office.
Earlier this morning, the Chief Minister, in a condolence message, said that he was saddened to hear about the demise of Sugnana Kumari Deo, a prominent politician. As a senior leader of the Biju Janata Dal, she was instrumental in organizing the party. She has left her mark in public service by representing Khalikote and Kabisuryanagar assembly constituencies 10 times. It is an irreparable loss. May her soul rest in peace and my condolences to the bereaved family members, the CM said.
On Friday, the CM had visited the private hospital in Chennai, where she was undergoing treatment, to inquire about her health condition.
Several BJD leaders and workers had reached Sankha Bhawan to offer their last respects to their party leader.
