No More Obscene Dance And Vulgar Double Meaning Dialogues In Jatra Programs

Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha has taken initiatives to curb obscene dance and vulgar double meaning dialogues in Jatra and other musical programs in the state. The Odisha Language, Literature and Culture Department has written a letter to the District Collectors and SPs on the issue and has asked them to take stringent action against people who are indulging in organizing programs like these.

In a letter, the department has said that holding dance and song performances during festivals is allowed but they should not include obscenity, vulgarity and political overtones. It has also asked the enforcement authorities to to take appropriate action in this regard. The letter reads “there should not be any kind of obscene dance or vulgar dialogues during the performance by any one of the participants. It has directed that the local authorities have to incorporate all the stipulations as prescribed by the department while granting permission for the programs.
