Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested the Additional Commercial Tax Office (CTO) of CT&GST, Enforcement Unit in Paradip of Jagatsinghpur for allegedly taking bribe from a dealer.
The Additional CTO has been identified as Prakash Chandra Sahoo.
He has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while taking bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a glass and ply dealer for taking no action against him, following an inspection of his business site in May 2022.
The entire bribe amount has been recovered and seized from the possession of the accused.
Following trap, searches have been launched at the office and residential premises of Sahoo.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case No-38 dt.28.06.2022, U/S 7 PC Act,1988 as amended by PC amendment Act 2018 has been registered.
The investigation is underway in the matter, the Vigilance added.
