Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has made adequate security arrangements to ensure a smooth and peaceful voting during the fourth and final phase of polling in the State on June 1 (Saturday).
Six Parliamentary constituencies — Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur — and 42 Assembly constituencies of the State will go to polls in the final phase.
Odisha DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi informed that 36,000 police personnel have been deployed for the fourth phase of voting.
The number of polling stations in the six Lok Sabha constituencies is 10,882 of which around 21 per cent have been designated as “sensitive booths”, he said.
As many as 36,000 police personnel, 126 companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), 86 platoons of Special Armed Police force of Odisha Police and 843 mobile parties will be deployed in this phase of polling.
The Odisha Police has also deployed 255 Flying Squad Teams and 255 Static Surveillance Teams to check any violence and illegal activities during the polling.
The campaigning for the final phase of polling in Odisha ended on Thursday evening.
As many as 99,61,057 voters including 50.88 lakh men, 48.72 lakh women will exercise their franchise in the final phase of polling.
As many as 460 candidates, including 66 for the Parliamentary elections and 394 for the Assembly, are in the fray for the final phase of polling.
Over 72,000 polling personnel have been deployed for the smooth conduct of polling in the final phase.
