Bhadrak: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday won the by-election to Dhamnagar Assembly seat in Bhadrak district.
BJP candidate Suryabanshi Suraj defeated BJD’s Abanti Das by 9881 votes.
Suraj garnered 80,351 votes while his nearest rival BJD candidate Abanti Das got 70,470 votes. Independent candidate Rajendra Das polled 8,153 votes. Congress was in fourth position as its nominee Baba Harekrushna Sethy got only 3,561 votes.
The voting for the bypoll was conducted on November 3 at 252 polling booths and 68.98 per cent polling recorded.
