Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved a proposal for the amendments of Odisha Food Processing Policy’2016.
The amendments seek to enhance the timeline for claim submission from the present limit of 1 year to 2 years prospectively for all types of incentives and creation of provision for delay condonation.
As an one-time relaxation measure, enterprises who had already commenced production but failed to file claim application for incentives within the due date, are given time upto 30.06.2023 to file their claim application complete in all respects.
The Odisha Food Processing Policy 2016 provides various fiscal incentives for promotion of MSMEs. It is seen that in many cases, there is delay (beyond the permissible limit of 1 year) in claim application submission by enterprises which happens due to their ignorance about various incentives they are entitled to under the Policy and procedures to claim these incentives. Moreover, because of COVID-19 dislocation, some enterprises were not able to submit their claim application in time.
Therefore, in order to give justice to all such enterprises whose claims have already been rejected on such grounds of delay or who might not have submitted their claim application for being late vis-a-vis the dateline, the Cabinet has approved the amendments in OFPP 2016.
