Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena has attended the 8th Asia Pacific Urban Forum (APUF-8) in Suwon, South Korea.
For the past three decades, the Asia-Pacific Urban Forum has played a pivotal role in convening the region’s premier multi-stakeholder forum on sustainable urban development.
The APUF-8 is being held from 23 to 25 October 2023. It is convened by United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) for cities across the Asia Pacific to share learnings on sustainable urban development.
On the first day of the APUF-8, the focus is on Urban and Territorial Planning where the Chief Secretary PK Jena spoke on Disaster Resilience for cities.
Odisha is widely recognized as a leader in disaster management and planning given our decades of experience of ensuring zero damage to life from natural disasters, the Chief Secretary said.
As climate change makes natural disasters more prevalent, it is important to share each others’ experiences & catalyse finance and pro-active planning for disaster resilient societies, he added.
