Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra on Saturday visited Nandankanan Zoological Park and reviewed various developmental works being carried out there.
The Chief Secretary urged the officials to speed up the development works and ensure various other facilities for the tourists.
The Chief Secretary visited Chudang reserve forest and proposed Krishnanagar forest areas. An expanded programme of Nandankanan will be started over 604 hectares land of both forests. Safaris for tigers, lions, bears and herbivores will be built in this area. It will also have a veterinary clinic.
The Chief Secretary also visited the botanical garden and reviewed various works. He ordered the ropeway to be made operational within the next one month.
The ropeway will accommodate 3,000 tourists per day. Tourists can travel directly between the botanical and zoological gardens.
The Chief Secretary ordered to prepare a master plan for the modernization of Nandankanan at the earliest. The modernization work will be completed within the next one year, he said.
