Odisha CM Called on PM Modi, Demand Special Status; Rs.5000 cr for Fani Restoration

New Delhi: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PM’s residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi

After being sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Odisha for the fifth consecutive time, it was Patnaik’s first meeting with PM Modi.

Patnaik also congratulated PM Modi for being elected second time as PM.

Patnaik has reportedly put forth demands pertaining to the interest of Odisha before the Prime Minister, including Special Category Status demand for the State,  release of assistance demanded for restoration work post Cyclone Fani and hike in coal royalty.

Speaking to media after the meeting Patnaik said, “I have just met the Prime Minister. I congratulated him on his electoral victory. I also requested him for special category status for Odisha. Besides, I have also asked for Rs 5000 crore additional assistance and 5 lakh pucca houses for the affected people.”

Patnaik also reportedly requested Pm Modi to provide 5 lakhs Pucca Ghar  for cyclone Fani affected people.

The CM will also attend NITI Aayog’s Governing Council meeting on June 15. He will also meet President Ram Nath Kovind during his visit.
