Odisha CM Congratulates Geetanjali Shree as Her Translated Novel ‘Tomb of Sand’ Wins International Booker Prize
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated author Geetanjali Shree as her translated novel, ‘Tomb of Sand’ has been awarded the 2022 International Booker Prize, becoming the first book in any Indian language to win the prestigious prize.

Author Geetanjali Shree’s translated Hindi novel, ‘Tomb of Sand’, has become the first book written in an Indian language to be awarded the prestigious 2022 International Booker Prize.
Originally published in Hndi as Ret Samadhi, the book is translated into English by Daisy Rockwell.
‘Tomb of Sand’ was among 13 long listed novels, which were translated to English from 11 languages and originate from 12 countries across four continents. Geetanjali will be awarded GBP 50,000, which will be split evenly between the author and translator, as per reports.
