Odisha EOW Arrests Loan Fraud Accused From Midnapur

Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing of the Odisha Crime Branch has arrested one of the main accused in the loan fraud case from Midnapur in West Bengal. According to sources, the accused Sarfaraj Jawed has been arrested in connection with the loan fraud of Rs 4.13 crore. The case relates to a complaint filed by the Cuttack Urban Cooperative Bank wherein the accused used fake LIC bonds to take a loan.

The loan was given to about 25 people between 2019 and 2021 from the Nuapatna Branch. Earlier, four persons – Sk Abdul Hayee, Prakash Mohapatra, Md Mustakim Raja, Md Iftekar Asim, were arrested by the EOW in this connection. The arrested accused will be produced before the OPID Court, Cuttack today.
