Odisha: EOW Arrests SBI Deputy Manager for Misappropriating Rs 8 Crore

Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Police arrested a deputy manager of State Bank of India, Phulbani Branch for allegedly cheating and misappropriating Rs 8 crore.

The accused has been identified as Asutosh Acharya.

The bank official was arrested on April 5 from Cuttack.

The EOW has registered a case against Acharya on the basis of allegation of the regional manager of State Bank of India, RBO, Phulbani.

Acharya, who was working as deputy manager-cum-field officer of SBI, Phulbani branch, has been illegally recommending and processing 59 Xpress Credit Loans meant for the salaried persons and 26 Pension Loans meant for the pensioners to the non-salaried persons and non-pensioners and subsequently misappropriating the loan amount of Rs 8,01,87,000 by transferring the same to the account of his family members and relatives etc, as per reports.

The accused will be produced before SDJM Court, Phulbani, reports added.
