Bhubaneswar: The final voter list of Odisha will be published on January 5 next year, said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal here on Wednesday.
The CEO has held an all-party meeting to discuss about the preparation of a flawless voters’ list for General Elections in 2024.
A special drive will be conducted for four days – November 5, 11, 19 and 25 – in the State for the registration of all eligible voters in the age group of 18-19 years, Dhal said while seeking cooperation of all political parties for the preparation of error-free voter list.
In the all-party meeting, Dhal informed that the draft voter list of Odisha will be published on October 27. The complaints and suggestions over the draft voter lists can be filed between October 27 and December 9. The errors would be corrected by December 26. The final voter list will be published on January 5 next year.
As many as 216 new polling booths will be opened in the State. The Election Commission has given permission for this. Due to increase in the number of voters, the need for opening of new booths arose, the CEO added.
