Odisha Fire Personnel Rescue 667 people From Floods; Department Ready To Face Any Challenge: Santosh Kumar Upadhyay

Bhubaneswar: With the flood situation in the state continuing, the Odisha Fire Services teams have swung into action and leaving no stone unturned to rescue the needy. Till now, various teams of the State Fire Services have rescued 667 persons from flood waters.

Speaking to media, DG, Fire Services, Santosh Kumar Upadhyay has said that 44 fire response teams are on the ground engaged in the rescue efforts at various places in the flood affected districts. All Fire Stations of the state are on alert and ready to take part in the rescue and relief works in the flood affected areas. The teams deployed on the ground have all the modern equipments with them.

The Fire Services teams are also engaged in clearing of roads blocked by uprooted trees, saving cattle and animals trapped in the flood waters. In Cuttack District, the Damapada Fire Services team personnel have rescued more than 400 persons from the flood waters near Banki.

Earlier today, the Fire Services DG had reviewed the preparedness of the Fire personnel and their deployment in various areas. The meeting was attended by Soumya Mishra, Additional DG, Fire Services, Chief Fire Officer D K Swain, fire officers, deputy fire officers and assistant fire officers.
