Odisha Flood: Four Gates of Hirakud Dam Closed

Sambalpur: The Hirakud dam authorities have closed four sluice gates of the reservoir in order to control the flood situation in the low-lying areas.

Odisha Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena informed that of the 40 gates of Hirakud dam opened, 4 have been closed and another 4 will be closed now. Thus 32 will remain open. As planned, the reservoir level will be brought to 622Ft by 9am tomorrow, he added.

At 9 am today, the water level in Hirakud reservoir was 624.69 feet. The dam was receiving 4.40 lakh cusec water from the upstream and discharging 6.74 lakh cusec through 40 sluice gates, as per reports.
