Odisha Government Implements Time-bound Career Advancement For Govt Medical Teachers, Enhances Remuneration
Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha has decided to implement the time-bound career advancement scheme for Government Medical and Dental College teachers. A resolution in this regard has been published by the Health and Family Welfare Department Friday. The decision comes after careful examination of the recommendations of the Committee under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary. It will resolve the long pending demands of the Medical teaching fraternity in the state. The government has also issued the required guiding principles for the implementation of the Time-bound Career Advancement.
The Government of Odisha has also taken the important decision to enhance the remuneration, and introduce revised place-based incentive for directly recruited and in-service Tutors, SRs, and JRs working in the Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals of Odisha. The Health and Family Welfare Department has issued a notification in this regard.
While the remuneration of the Tutors, SRs, and JRs working in the Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals of Odisha was revised last in 2018, since then six Medical Colleges and two PG Institutes have come up in the state. To meet the norms of the National Medical Commission (NMC), a minimum number of Tutors, SRs and JRs are required to be posted there. However, though some of the Medical Colleges and Hospitals are located in difficult areas, there is no incentive given to the Tutors, SRs and JRs posted there.
In the meantime, the base remuneration of Contractual faculties has been enhanced, and place- based incentives have been allowed to all faculties working in the Medical Colleges situated in remote/ difficult areas. Further, due to non-availability of adequate number of Tutors, SRs and JRs as per National Medical Commission (NMC) norms with the present remuneration rates and also as there has been no revision in remuneration of Tutors, SRs and JRs since 2018, it was felt expedient to revisit the same, the Notification read.
