Bhubaneswar: In line with its commitment to provide safe drinking water to all households in the State, the Odisha Government on Wednesday expanded the ‘Drink from Tap’ facility to 19 more cities across the State.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has dedicated the facility benefiting over 5.5 lakh urban population.
The facility has been extended to 18 wards in Bhubaneswar, 3 wards in Cuttack, 3 wards in Nimapara, 16 wards in Berhampur, 11 wards in Gopalpur, 4 wards in Rourkela, 1 ward in Sundargarh, 1 ward in Biramitrapur, 4 wards in Rajgangpur, 4 wards in Keonjhar, 2 wards in Joda, 2 wards in Barbil, 7 wards in Champua, 3 wards in Anandapur, 2 wards in Baripada, 2 wards in Rairangpur, 3 wards in Udala, 2 wards in Karanjia, 1 word in Vyasanagar.
In addition, the Chief Minister also launched the work for this facility in three more ULBs –
Khordha, Jatni and Hinjilicut benefitting over 1.5 population.
The Odisha Government’s flagship ‘Drink from Tap Mission’ is the first-of-its-kind programme in the country providing 24×7 IS 10500 quality drinkable water directly from the tap.
