Odisha Govt Further Strengthens Emergency Response Support System, Deploys 106 ERVs

Cuttack: The Odisha Government has furthered strengthened the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) by deploying 106 more Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) on Monday.
Special DGP (SAP) Manoj Chhabra flagged off the ERVs at an event organized at the OSAP 6th Battalion parade ground, Cuttack.

People will be able to avail of three emergency services by just dialing 112.
Speaking on the occasion Manoj Chhabra, said, “Today is important for Odisha Police, Fire and Ambulance service. Like 911 numbers in America, people of Odisha will get three emergency services like police, fire and ambulance under one emergency number 112. He said 106 numbers of vehicles were already handed over and on Monday 62 vehicles were flagged off.

In the second phase 150 vehicles will be launched and all these vehicles will be deployed to provide all three services.”
Earlier, a total of 151 (four-wheelers), and 97 (two-wheelers) were engaged for any kind of emergency services in ERSS. Now with these additional 106 vehicles, ERSS would be more strengthened and more effective to respond in any kind of emergency, said RK Sharma Addl.DGP (Law & Order) and State Nodal Officer, ERSS.

The ERVS have been strategically deployed across districts and key cities of Odisha.

The ERVs will act on the lines of PCR van. To manage tasks efficiently, the new vans have been equipped with modern systems such as GIS and GPS. These additions will help provide prompt and effectively assistance in emergency situations like crimes, mob acts or accidents.

Ziqitza Healthcare Ltd will manage and operate the ERVs. Like other emergency services, it will be entirely free for the people of Odisha.

Dev Datta Singh, IGP (Hqrs); Yatindra Koyal, IGP (Provisioning); S Praveen Kumar (Personnel); and other senior officers were present during the flag off ceremony.
