Odisha: Govt Hospital Nurses Stage Two-Day Protest over 10-Point Demands

Bhubaneswar: The nurses of the government hospitals and healthcare centres in Odisha launched a two-day protest from today seeking fulfillment of their 10-point list of demands.

The nurses under the banner of Odisha Nursing Employees’ Association (ONEA) have threatened to completely stay off hospital duties from September 27 if their demands are not met.

Their demands include regularisation of contractual workers and scrapping of outsourcing.
The nurses at state-run hospitals except those posted at emergency services, intensive care units and operation theatres are participating in the agitation.

Meanwhile, Director of Nursing Dr Artabandhu Nayak said that the ESMA will be effective for six months from August 6 and no employee is permitted to strike.

Strong actions will be taken against the nursing staff joining the cease work stir, Nayak said.

State Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said that the issue would be solved amicably through discussions.
