Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to enhance purchase subsidy on electric vehicles.
A proposal in this regard has been approved by the State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday.
The State Government has implemented the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy 2021 with effective from September 1, 2021 with an objective for adoption of 20% battery electric vehicles by 2025.
Under the policy guidelines, various incentives have been declared both for purchasers and manufacturers. One of the key incentives is purchase subsidy which is being provided to promote purchase and register electric vehicles.
This policy was implemented since September 1, 2021 and based on the experience and best practices across the country, it is decided to enhance the subsidy. This will make the policy more progressive and help the state to achieve the desired objective and attract public for purchasing electric vehicles, an official release stated.
