Odisha Govt Withholds Decision to Amend Regulation-2 of 1956 on Transfer of Tribal Lands

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has withheld the decision to amend Regulation-2 of 1956 regarding the transfer of tribal lands.

This has been informed by Revenue Minister Sudam Marndi.

“The proposed Amendment to Regulation-2 of 1956 discussed in the Cabinet meeting held on 14th November 2023, regarding the transfer of Tribal lands, has been withheld,” the Minister informed through his ‘X’ handle.

Earlier, the State Government had decided to make amendments in the Odisha Regulation-2 being enforced in Scheduled areas of the state, so that the tribals can transfer their lands to non-tribals with permission from the Sub Collector or the Collector.
