Bhubaneswar: Continuing its crackdown on tainted officials, the Odisha Government took strong action against nine more corrupt officials on Wednesday.
The State Government has slapped compulsory retirement on five officials, dismissed two officials and canceled pension of two officials permanently.
The tainted officials include one superintending engineer, two executive engineers, two assistant engineers, one junior engineer, one OAS officer, a Chief District Veterinary officer and a social extension officer.
With this, as many as 173 officials have been given either compulsory retirement or dismissed from service or pension stopped by the State Government so far, according to a statement.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has always stressed on the significance of transparency in the administration. He has been continuing efforts to provide services to the people through a transparent, efficient and accountable administration while upholding integrity and morality in public life.
As directed by the Chief Minister, the State Government has been continuing its crackdown on corrupt and incompetent officials.
The officers, who have been given compulsory retirement from service, include Ashish Kumar Dash, the former Superintending Engineer of Malkangiri Rural Development division, Manas Ranjan Mohanty, the former Executive Engineer of Bhadrak Rural Division I, Manoj Kumar Behera, Executive Engineer of Cuttack Drainage Division, Bisudhananda Behera, Assistant Engineer of Umarkote R&B Division and Umesh Kumar Sashani, Assistant Engineer of the Baitarani Irrigation Division, Keonjhar. The officers whose pensions have been stopped permanently are Jalandhar Mallik, the former Chief District Veterinary Officer (CDVO) of Parlakhemundi and Trinath Sethi, the former Junior Engineer of Rural Works Division-II in Digapahandi, Ganjam. Besides, Prabhashini Babu, the former Social Extension Officer(SEO), Balangir, and Sabita Sahu, the Deputy Collector of Balasore district have been dismissed from service.
