Sambalpur: Ten more gates of Hirakud dam have been opened on Friday due to incessant rain in the upper catchment area of Mahanadi basin.
While all gates of Hirakud dam were closed a day ago, six gates were opened yesterday as there was heavy rain in the upper catchment area and the water level was approaching the highest level.
About 1, 75, 809 cusecs of water is entering into the reservoir. Hence, ten more gates have been opened on Friday based on the situation. Currently 137690 cusecs of water is being discharged through 16 gates. Now the water level is 629.43 feet.
