Odisha Registers Significant Drop in Anaemia Cases 

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has registered a significant drop in anemia cases among different age groups ranging from 6 months to 24 years, pregnant women & lactating mothers.

The Odisha Government’s efforts to reduce anaemia prevalence has borne fruitful results as the State has brought down overall rate by 17.5% i.e. from 64.2% in 2019-21 to 46.7% in 2022-23, as per a Study conducted by the State Government.

Odisha remains focused on improving health & nutrition of women, kids & adolescents, informed the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

AMLAN (Anaemia Mukta Lakhya Abhiyan) initiative has been successfully implemented in the State for the reduction of anemia cases.

The programme is being carried out by several departments including Health & Family Welfare, School & Mass Education, Women & Child Development, Mission Shakti and ST & SC Development.

The major interventions under the programme are strengthening iron and folic acid supplementation, testing for haemoglobin, treatment of anaemic cases, capacity building of service providers and social behaviour change communication.
