Odisha Sees Increase in Number of Voters

Bhubaneswar: There has been an increase in the number of voters in Odisha, informed State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Kumar Dhal on Friday.

Addressing the media, the CEO said that the number of voters in the draft list increased from 3, 23,52,119 to 3,26,55,213.

While 6,22,429 voters have been added in the draft list, 3,19,345 voters were deleted on various grounds, including death, change of address, and people with multiple voter cards, he said.
The gender ratio of the electorate has increased in the State and compared to a gender ratio of 1000:961 earlier, now the gender ratio in the State stands at 1000:963, he said.

Due to rise in the number of voters, the number of booths has been increased from 37,606 to 37,809 across Odisha, the CEO said.

The complaints and suggestions over the draft voter lists can be filed between October 27 and December 9. The errors would be corrected by December 26. The final voter list will be published on January 5 next year, Dhal had informed earlier.
