Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police on Monday destroyed one kg contraband Brown Sugar and 1,992 Kg ganja which were seized from the exclusive possession of accused persons.
“Following due procedure laid down by Orissa High Court and on the decision of drug disposal committee led by DIG of Police, STF disposed/ bulk quantity of contraband Brown Sugar of 1kg and 1992 kg ganja , which were seized from the exclusive possession of accused persons, at a designated incinerator. The seized contraband was first authenticated and certificated by concerned court and handed over to drug disposal committee for the destruction,” the STF said.

The ganja was destroyed in the presence of senior police officers and in Scientific Officers of State Forensic Science laboratory and Member of State Pollution Board.
So far, the STF has destroyed 22 kg 569 gm brown sugar in 17 cases and 38 Quintals 9 kg Ganja in six cases including Monday’s destruction.
Odisha Police has also destroyed more than 535 Qunitals of Ganja in 227 cases and more than 27 kg Brown Sugar in 35 cases.
