Bhubaneswar: The Odisha School and Mass Education Department is contemplating to curtail the number of holidays for the ensuing summer season for school students. While no official confirmation regarding this has been made, sources tell that the Department wants to compensate the loss due to the closure of the schools in the last two years due to the Covid pandemic.
The number of vacations is likely to be cut down to just two weeks from May second week. But, seeing the summer temperatures, the holidays may be extended. The extended days of schooling will be utilised as compensatory classes and special arrangements will be made for remedial classes. A blue print is being prepared by experts according to which, the teachers will use the extra days to clear doubts of the students and revise the old topics through Bridge Classes. Weak students will be given more importance and teachers will be specially trained for this purpose.
