Odisha to Conduct Genome Sequencing of All COVID-19 Cases
Bhubaneswar: Amid the Omicron scare, the Odisha Government has decided to conduct genome sequencing of samples of people testing positive for COVID-19 in the State.
This has been informed by State Health Director Bijay Mohapatra.
He said that the genome sequencing of samples of all COVID-19 cases will be done to ascertain spread of infections caused by Omicron variant.
Meanwhile, the State Government has asked the officials to to intensify testing, vaccination and enforcement at the field level.
The Government has set the target to achieve 100 per cent inoculation with the first dose by January 15, 2022 by holding COVID-19 vaccination camps in villages.
88.2 per cent of those above 18 years of age have been given the first dose and around 86 per cent of them have taken their second jab.
