Odisha To Raise State Specific Demands At Eastern Zonal Meeting Being Held In Kolkata

Bhubaneswar: The 25th meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council is being held in Kolkata today. Odisha will reiterate its rightful State-specific demands in the meeting to be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Odisha will reiterate its demand for getting recognized as a focus state. Odisha has been continuously demanding to recognize the state as a focus state as it is facing constant natural calamities. Apart from this, demands related to the interests of the state, such as payment of outstanding subsidies in various Central Schemes and increase in coal royalty, inclusion of 160 communities of Odisha in the tribal list and inclusion of languages like Ho, Hiruj and Mundari in the eighth schedule of the constitution will be strongly presented.

Panchayatiraj Minister Pradeep Kumar Amat and Home Minister Tusarkanti Behera will attend the meeting. Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, Home Secretary Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh and Director General of Police Sunil Kumar Bansal will also attend the meeting.
