Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government will start a special drive to check underage driving across the state.
The State Road Transport Authority (STA) will launch the enforcement drive in close vicinity of schools from March 28. It will continue till the end of April first week.
Strong actions will be taken against the violators and the registered owner of the vehicles that are found driven by underage drivers, the STA said.
Besides, seizure of the vehicle, fine up to Rs 25,000 will be imposed on the violators. The registration of the vehicle shall be cancelled, the STA said.
The STA further stated that information of minors caught during the drive will be uploaded on the Sarathi database as a result of which they will not be issued driving licences till the attainment of 25 age.
