Bhubaneswar: Odisha is the number one state when it comes to production of tuber crops.
This has been informed by Agriculture Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain in the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
In replying to a question asked by Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the Minister said that Odisha occupies second place in the production of brinjal and cabbage, and fifth place in the production of lady’s finger, tomato, and watermelon.
The Directorate of Horticulture has distributed a total of 3.64 crores of planting materials of mango, cashew, orange, litchi, coconut, guava, etc. to the farmers and various organizations in the last ten years, he added.
