Odisha Urban Elections: 6381 Nominations Valid for Councilors and Corporators

Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) has okayed as many as 6381 nomination papers filed by candidates for the post of councilors and corporators for the ensuing urban local body elections in Odisha.

The SEC has informed that 671 nominations for the post of mayors and chairpersons remained valid after scrutiny.
A total of 78 nominations for councilors and corporators were rejected and nomination of 22 mayors and chairpersons were rejected after scrutiny.

The scrutiny of the nominations was done on March 9. The last date of withdrawal of nominations is March 14.
Elections will be held in 109 ULBs including three municipal corporations, 47 municipalities and 59 NACs on March 24. Counting will be held on March 26.
