Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ace para shuttler Pramod Bhagat has qualified for the Paralympics scheduled to be held in Tokyo from August 25 to September 5, 2021.
Bhagat, the World’s No.1 para shuttler, is the first sportsperson of the State to get a ticket officially for Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
“I am happy to be invited for the Paralympics 2021 in Japan and hope to get the first ever Gold Medal in Badminton for India”, Bhagat said.
“You do not decide you destiny, if you passionately follow your dreams, you reach your destiny”, he added.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated Bhagat for qualifying to participate in the Tokyo Paralympics.

Along with Bhagat (SL3 — standing/lower limb impairment/minor), two other para shuttlers — Tarun Tarun (SL4 — standing/ lower limb impairment/severe) and Nagar Krishna (SH6 — standing/short stature) — received invitations from the Badminton World Federation to participate in the Paralympics for India.
