Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government will set up the State’s biggest model jail at Jamujhari are in the capital city.
The proposed jail would be the first green jail in the State with zero carbon emission. After completion, the special jail located at Jharpada will be shifted to the new jail, according to Director General (Prisons) Manoj Chhabra.
To be built in an area of 50 acre, the Jamujhari jail would accommodate 2,500 prisoners.
The State Government has given its nod to the project for construction of the prison. The construction work will be completed in two years. The new jail will have special cells and wards for the transgenders. Besides, open gym, children’s park, playground, library, bakery unit and food processing unit will be there in the jail premises. There will be a hospital and pathology center inside the jail, reports added.
